Three New Board Members at Dell
Janet Clark, 56, the EVP, Treasurer, & CFO of Marathon Oil, has been selected to serve on Dell’s Audit Committee. In the past, Clark has served as SVP & CFO for Nuevo Energy and as CFO & EVP of Corporate Development and Administration at Santa Fe Snyder.
Ken Duberstein, 67, the current Chairman & CEO of The Duberstein Group, has been appointed to the Board's Governance and Nominating Committee. Duberstein served as a key member of the Reagan Administration as White House Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, and Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs. In 1989, he was awarded the Presidential Citizens Medal by President Reagan. Duberstein also serves as a director on the boards of the Boeing Company, ConocoPhillips, and the Travelers Companies.
Laura Conigliaro, 65, a former Partner at Goldman Sachs, has joined the Board's Finance Committee. At Goldman Sachs, she was codirector of the firm's Americas Equity Research unit and was on the Compensation Policy Committee. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Conigliaro served as a computer and design automation analyst at Prudential and as an intelligence analyst at the National Security Agency.
HP Fires CEO
HP announced that Leo Apotheker, 58, has been relieved of his duties as President, CEO, & Director. Before joining HP, he was the CEO of SAP AG. Meg Whitman, 55, has been named as Apotheker’s replacement. Prior to joining HP, Whitman served as President & CEO of eBay from 1998 to 2008. She has also held senior positions at Hasbro, Stride Rite, and FTD.
Board Member at CA
CA Technologies announced that Jens Alder, 54, has been elected to its Board of Directors. Alder currently serves as the Chairman of Sanitas Krankenversicherung, one of Switzerland's largest health insurers, and RTX Telecom, a telecommunications component and handset producer based in Denmark. He also serves as Chairman of Industrielle Werke Basel, an industrial utility company based in Switzerland. Additionally, Alder is the Lead Advisor for IT Governance to the Swiss Minister of Defence and to the Swiss Chief of the Armed Forces. Earlier in his career, Alder served as CEO of TDC, Swisscom, and Alcatel Switzerland.
CMO at SAP
SAP announced the appointment of Jonathan Becher as the company’s new Chief Marketing Officer. Becher joined SAP through the acquisition of Pilot Software, where he served as President, CEO, & CMO. Since joining SAP four years ago, he has served as EVP of Marketing. Prior to Pilot, Becher was the President & CEO of Accrue Software.
New CEO of Apple Announces First Promotion Decision
CEO Tim Cook, 50, has promoted iTunes VP Eddy Cue to SVP of Internet Software and Services. Cue will remain in charge of iTunes and iCloud in addition to assuming responsibility for Apple’s iAds platform. He will report directly to Cook and will serve on Apple’s executive management team. Cue has been with Apple for more than 20 years.
Former Microsoft Exec and Former SAP Exec Fill VP Slots at Adobe
Adobe Systems announced that Bridget Perry has been appointed VP of Americas Marketing. Perry joins Adobe from Microsoft, where she served as Senior Director of U.S. Enterprise Marketing. Prior to Microsoft, Perry was a strategy consultant at E&Y, consulting with a wide variety of companies in the media and entertainment, food and beverage, and pharmaceutical industries.
The company also announced that Garrett Ilg has been named VP of Americas Field Operations. Ilg, the former President of Adobe Systems Japan, returns to the company after serving as President and Representative Director of SAP Japan. While at SAP, he drove consistent revenue growth for the company's third largest geographical region, maintaining a strong focus on customer satisfaction and expanding the partner ecosystem.
AMD Recruits New Division VP
AMD announced that Paul Struhsaker, 49, has joined the company as the VP & GM of the newly created Commercial Business Division. He joins AMD from Comcast, where he served as SVP of Engineering. Prior to Comcast, Struhsaker was VP of Silicon Technologies at Motorola. Earlier in his career, he was the CTO of Texas Instruments' Broadband Business Unit.
