The average length of time the searches are open is 4 months, up from 4.4 last month. There is little variance across geographies.

Tech CEO Roles Open As of January 31st, 2018

The United States & Canada 

Diebold Nixdorf, Ohio, December 2017 - Andreas “Andy” W. Mattes is stepping down from his position as president and CEO. The Office of the Chief Executive will be led by Christopher A. Chapman, SVP and CFO, and Juergen Wunram, SVP and COO, until a permanent successor has been named.

HSN, Florida, April 2017 - CEO Mindy Grossman has resigned. The Board has established an Office of the CEO.

Intellicheck, New York, October 2017 - Intellicheck announces the appointment of Bill White as interim president and CEO and the departure of William Roof. 

Equifax, Georgia, September 2017 - Chairman and CEO Richard Smith would step aside following massive data breach. Paulino do Rego Barros Jr. named interim leader as the board searches for a successor. 

Convergys Corporation, Ohio, January 2018 - President and CEO Andrea Ayers will transition from her role following a nearly 30-year career at the Company. Ayers will continue to lead the Company in her current role President and CEO, as well as a member of the Board, as long as necessary for transition purposes.

Nuance Communications, Massachusetts, November 2016 - Chairman and CEO Paul Ricci intends to retire at the end of first half of fiscal 2018. 

Match Group, Texas, November 2017 - Match Group is actively recruiting to fill the CEO positions at PlentyOfFish. Hesam Hosseini, currently CEO of PlentyOfFish, will become CEO of Match and Match Affinity Brands.

SMART Global Holdings, California, November 2017 - CEO Iain MacKenzie has decided to transition to a revised role during the 2018 calendar year, but will remain on the board. It is anticipated that a search for a new CEO will commence in the near future. 

Five9, California, November 2017 - Mike Burkland, Chairman, President and CEO, will be transitioning to become executive chairman. In October, he was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer and will be undergoing aggressive treatment over the next several months. The board has named Barry Zwarenstein, the company’s CFO, to the additional post of Interim CEO while a search for a permanent CEO commences.

Sigma Designs, California, January 2018 - Sigma Designs' President & CEO Thinh Tran has resigned. Mr. Elias Nader, Sigma's current SVP and CFO, has been appointed as interim President and CEO.

Marchex, Washington, October 2016 - Pete Christothoulou resigned as CEO in October last year. 

Edgewater Technology, Massachusetts, March 2017 - Chairman Jeffrey L. Rutherford is Interim President and CEO. 

Absolute Software, British Columbia, Canada, January 2018 - Absolute Software named Steve Munford, an accomplished cybersecurity industry leader, as interim CEO. Absolute’s former CEO, Geoff Haydon, resigned as both CEO and member of the Board.

Numerex, Georgia, January 2017 - Numerex terminated the employment of Marc Zionts as CEO. CFO Kenneth Gayronis interim CEO.  

Support.com, California, October 2016 – Dr. Elizabeth M. Cholawsky as president and CEO. Richard Bloom is iCEO.

Westell Technologies, Illinois, November 2017 - Chairman Kirk R. Brannock has been appointed interim President and CEO. The Board intends to conduct a search for a permanent CEO.

Xceligent, Missouri, October 2017 - Jody Vanarsdale, Xceligent’s COO, will take on the role of Acting CEO.

Millennium Health, California, December 2017 - Millennium Health appointed Robert "Bob" H. Fish as interim CEO. Mr. Fish will replace Jennifer Strickland, who is leaving the company for another opportunity but will continue as director. Fish currently serves as the Chairman of Genesis Healthcare.

Cartesian, Kansas, November 2017 - Peter Woodward provided formal notice to Cartesian that he will resign from his position as CEO.

Apivio Systems, BC, Canada, May 2017 - Apivio Systems appointed Ms. Elizabeth Park as interim President and CEO.

Blancco Technology Group, Georgia, September 2017 - Pat Clawson, CEO, has decided to step down. Interim CFO Simon Herrick, will become CEO on an interim basis.

CCUR Holdings, Georgia, January 2018 - Derek Elder's role as president and CEO of the company will terminate and he will cease to be a member of the company's board.

Dealnet Capital, Ontario, Canada, October 2017 - The company has commenced the search for a new CEO following the decision by the company to replace the current CEO, Mr. Michael Hilmer.

Brekford, Maryland, November 2016 - Brekford entered into a separation agreement with C.B. Brechin, the company's CEO and CFO. 

Digiliti Money, Minnesota, August 2017 - Jeffrey Mack has resigned as President and CEO. EVP & CFO, Bryan Meier, will assume the position of interim CEO.

IDT Telecom, New Jersey, December 2017 - Abilio (Bill) Pereira, who currently serves as CEO of IDT Telecom was provided termination.

Titan Logix, Alberta, Canada, December 2017 - Douglas Carruthers CEO tenure expires and will not be renewed. Carruthers will continue in his role as CEO and Board member until the end of January 2018.

MassRoots, Colorado, December 2017 - Scott Kveton resigned as CEO of the company. Kveton had sold his startup, Odava, to MassRoots in July in a deal worth about $1.6 million, and was later named CEO.

MMRGlobal, California, June 2017 - Robert H. Lorsch, Chairman, President and CEO of the company, died unexpectedly.

Lavu, New Mexico, June 2016 - Marc Chesley has stepped down as the CEO of Lavu. 

INTREorg Systems, Texas - June 2017 - David M. Beach tendered his resignation as president, CEO and a director. 

International Card Establishment, California, July 2017 - Payment company International Card Establishment appointed Kelani Long iCEO & Director.

Kickstarter, New York, July 2017 - Kickstarter co-founder Yancey Strickler is stepping down as CEO of the innovative crowdfunding company later this year. Kickstarter is now actively looking for a replacement.

Ancestry.com, Utah, September 2017 - Ancestry.com CEO Tim Sullivan is stepping down. CFO and COO Howard Hochhauser assumed the role of interim CEO as the company conducts a search for a permanent replacement.

Birch Communications, Georgia, October 2017 - Birch Communications announced the departure of President and CEO Tony Tomae.

comScore, Virginia, October 2017 - Dr. Gian Fulgoni its Co-Founder and CEO, intends to retire as CEO. The Board has formed a committee to direct the search for a new CEO. The Committee will retain a leading executive search firm to assist in identifying and evaluating both internal and external candidates for the CEO role.

Bolste, Arizona, October 2017 - Founder Leif Hartwig has stepped down from his position as CEO, but will continue to serve on the board. Current Board member Kenneth Waters will serve in the role of Interim CEO until a permanent successor has been named.

AdColony, California, December 2017 - Otello announced the departure of AdColony's CEO, Will Kassoy. Lars Boilesen, Otello CEO, will act as interim CEO for AdColony while the company searches for his permanent replacement. 

Europe, Middle East & Africa 

Independent News & Media plc, Ireland, October 2017 - Secretary and Chief Risk Officer Michael Doorly named as interim Group CEO, replacing outgoing CEO Robert Pitt.

Ellies Holdings Limited, South Africa, November 2017 - Wayne Samson resigned as CEO. The board says a further announcement, regarding the appointment of a new CEO, will be released in due course.

Pricer AB, Sweden, April 2017 - CFO Helena Holmgren has been appointed acting CEO until a new CEO has been recruited. 

Avanti Communications, United Kingdom, August 2017 - CEO David Williams is stepping down. Alan Harper, currently a board non-executive director who joined in March 2017, who will assume the role of interim CEO.

Catena Media Plc, Malta, October 2017 - Catena Media appointed Henrik Persson Ekdahl as acting CEO as Robert Andersson leaves as CEO.

Earthport plc, United Kingdom, December 2017 - Earthport plc announces that CEO Hank Uberoi will become Executive Chairman and the Board has initiated a search for a new CEO. Phil Hickman, currently Non-Executive Chairman of the Board, has agreed to act as interim CEO.

Brady Plc, UK, September 2016 - After nine years CEO Gavin Lavelle has decided to pursue new opportunities. Ian Jenks will assume operational control of the company as executive chairman. 

Dods Group PLC, United Kingdom, November 2017 - Guy Cleaver, CEO, has resigned. The Board is currently seeking to appoint a new CEO.

Escher Group Holdings, Ireland, January 2018 - Liam Church, CEO, notified that he will retire at the end of May 2018. During the next few months, Liam will work with the Board to ensure an orderly handover to a replacement CEO.

Neonode, Sweden, December 2017 - Thomas Eriksson, CEO and co-founder of Neonode, will step down from his position as CEO. He will remain on the Board of Directors. Andreas Bunge, a recent investor in Neonode and member of the Board, will serve as interim CEO until a new CEO is in place.

SysGroup plc, United Kingdom, November 2017 - SysGroup plc announced that Chris Evans, CEO, has, due to longstanding health issues, will step down. A process is undertaken to appoint a permanent successor.

Porting Access BV, Netherlands, December 2017 - PortingXS has appointed Eric van Mieghem its interim CEO. Van Mieghem succeeds Ronald Vlasman, who died in August. Van Mieghem is the founder of The Vision Web. 

Asia Pacific

StarHub Ltd., Singapore, November 2017 - CEO Tan Tong Hai will step down from his position. The group said it is engaged in a global executive search for a new CEO.

Domain Holdings Australia, Australia, January 2018 - The Board of Domain Holdings Australia announced that it has accepted the resignation of Antony Catalano as CEO. A domestic and international search for a new CEO is commencing.

J-Devices Corporation, Japan, November 2017 - Yoshifumi Nakaya notified parent company Amkor Technology of his intention to retire as President & CEO of J-Devices at the end of 2017. The company expects to announce Mr. Nakaya's succession plan concurrently with the effective date of his retirement.

SQS India BFSI Limited, India, January 2018 - Ms. Aarti Arvind resigned as Managing Director & CEO of the company due to personal reasons.

Xchanging Solutions, India, October 2017 - Ramaswamy Sankaranarayanan Kavalapara named as interim managing director cum interim CEO.

Seeing Machines Limited, Australia, January 2018 - Seeing Machines Limited announced that CEO Mike McAuliffe is leaving the company. Executive Chairman Ken Kroeger has now been appointed as interim CEO by the board until the recruitment of a new CEO is finalized.

Datapulse Technology, Singapore, January 2018 - CEO Kee Swee Ann, has indicated to the company his wish to resign as CEO and step down from the Board. CFO Lee Kam Seng is the Interim CEO.

Stargroup Limited, Australia, December 2017 - Todd Zani has stepped down from his role as CEO of group and is accordingly no longer employed by the company. Mr. Zani will not work-out his notice period.

 

 

Technology CEO Appointments in January 2018

The United States & Canada 

SYNNEX Corporation, California - Kevin Murai will retire as president and CEO and will become chairman. Dennis Polk, current COO, will become president and CEO and will remain on the board. 

Texas Instruments, Texas - EVP, COO and Board Member Brian T. Crutcher has been named President and CEO succeeding Richard K. Templeton, who will remain Chairman.

Cerner Corporation, Missouri - Cerner appointed Brent Shafer, 60, as its CEO and Chairman of the Board. He is joining Cerner after serving as CEO of Philips North America, since February 2014.

Worldpay, Ohio - Vantiv changed its name to Worldpay Inc. after closing its acquisition of U.K. payments-processor Worldpay Group PLC. The combined company will be led by Charles Drucker, president and CEO of Vantiv, and Philip Jansen, CEO of Worldpay, who were appointed Co-CEOs of the company. Drucker was also appointed the Executive Chairperson. 

Xilinx, California - Xilinx appointed Victor Peng as president and CEO. Before joining Xilinx, Peng served as Corporate VP of the graphics products group (GPG) silicon engineering at AMD.

MAXIMUS, Virginia - Richard A. Montoni will retire from his role as CEO. The Board has unanimously selected President Bruce L. Caswell to succeed Mr. Montoni as CEO.

Meredith Corporation, Iowa - Meredith elected President and COO Tom Harty as President and CEO.

Finisar Corporation, California - Michael Hurlston named as CEO and a director. Hurlston most recently served as a SVP and General Manager of the Mobile Connectivity Products/Wireless Communications and Connectivity Division at Broadcom Limited.

OkCupid (Match Group), Texas - Match Group appointed Ariel Charytan as CEO of OkCupid. He recently served as SVP at Audible, an amazon company.

Syniverse Holdings, Florida - Syniverse has hired Dean Douglas as its President and CEO. Most recently, Douglas led the enterprise segment of CenturyLink. Former CEO of Unify, Westcon Group and LCC International. 

Quantum Corporation, California - Quantum Corp.appointed Patrick Dennis as president and CEO. Dennis was most recently president and CEO of Guidance Software.

Insight Global, Georgia - Insight Global has promoted Bert Bean from President to CEO. After 17 years as Founder and CEO, Glenn Johnson will remain as Executive Chairman. 

MetricStream, California - MetricStream announced that Mikael Hagstroem will succeed Shellye Archambeau as President and CEO. He currently serves on the executive committee of the United States Council for International Business, and has served as chair of the World Economic Forum's Global Agenda Council on Data-Driven Development and chair of the Executive Council of the American Chamber of Commerce to the European Union.

Xplore Technologies, Texas - Xplore Technologies named Tom Wilkinson as its CEO. Wilkinson has served as the company’s acting CEO and CFO.

ClickSoftware, Massachusetts - ClickSoftware has appointed Mark Cattini as CEO. Most recently, he was CEO of Autotask Corporation, which has since merged with Datto.

Long View Systems, Alberta, Canada - Long View has appointed Brent Allison as CEO. Brent was most recently with TELUS as their SVP, Business Futures. 

Veritas Technologies, California - Veritas Technologies has appointed Greg Hughes as CEO, part of a planned succession strategy to lead the next phase of the company's evolution. Hughes will also join the Veritas board. Hughes is an experienced enterprise software executive who most recently served as CEO of Serena Software.

Track Group, Illinois - Track Group has appointed Derek Cassell as CEO. Cassell joined Track Group in 2014 through the acquisition of Emerge Monitoring and has moved quickly through the company's ranks. He most recently served as the company's President.

DTT Surveillance, California - DTT appointed Mike Coffey as CEO. Most recently, Mr. Coffey was the CEO of Wyless, an IoT and M2M business.

STATS, Illinois - STATS announced the hiring of Carl Mergele as CEO. Former EVP at Lexmark Enterprise Software.

Percolate Industries, New York - Percolate announced that Randy Wootton has joined the team as CEO to lead the company through its next phase of growth. He was most recently CEO at predictive marketing pioneer and industry leader Rocket Fuel.

MDLIVE, Florida - MDLIVE named Rich Berner as CEO. Berner joins the company from Allscripts where he served in various executive roles including President, International & Acute and SVP Health Systems and Hospitals.

MapR Technologies, California - MapR Technologies announced that company Founder and Executive Chairman John Schroeder will return as Chairman and CEO. Matt Mills who previously served as CEO will be leaving the company.

Altierre, California - The board of Altierre Corp. announced the appointment of Tony Alvarez as CEO. Alvarez’s most recent management experience includes COO at Aptina and Advanced Analogic Technology, as well as CEO at Leadis Technology.

Schmitt Industries, Oregon - David W. Case has assumed the role of President and CEO of the company. David Case was previously the VP of Operations and General Manager of the company’s product line, Schmitt Dynamic Balancing Systems.

Act-On Software, Oregon - Act-On Software, in consolidating its North American operations in Portland, has named a new CEO and COO. Kate Johnson, the company's CFO, will replace Andy MacMillan in the marketing software company's top slot.

Panduit Corp., Illinois - Panduit has appointed Dennis Renaud as CEO. Renaud is entering the role of CEO after leading the company's Enterprise Business.

HireRight, California - Corporate Risk Holdings announced that President & COO Jurgen Leijdekker has been appointed to the position of CEO of its subsidiary company, HireRight. 

OGSystems, Virginia - Garrett Pagon, President and co-founder, will step into the role of CEO. 

Europe, Middle East & Africa

STMicroelectronics, Switzerland - Jean-Marc Chery will succeed Carlo Bozotti as President and CEO of STMicroelectronics. Chery currently serves as Deputy CEO of ST.

ITV plc, United Kingdom - Carolyn McCall, a non-executive director of Burberry Group plc, has joined ITV plc as CEO. Carolyn joins ITV from easyJet where she has been CEO for seven years. Earlier she was Group CEO of the Guardian Media Group.

Paddy Power Betfair plc, Ireland - Paddy Power Betfair plc confirmed that former WorldPay CEO Peter Jackson has taken up the position of CEO. Also former CEO of Travelex Group and former head of innovation at Banco Santander.

Neopost S.A., France - Neopost separated the functions of chairman and CEO.Former Flatirons Solutions' CEO Geoffrey Godet is named CEO of Neopost. Former Chair and CEO Denis Thiery is now Chairman.

Software AG, Germany - Software AG has appointed Sanjay Brahmawar as the new CEO, succeeding Karl-Heinz Streibich. Brahmawar is currently General Manager Global Revenue of IBM Watson Internet of Things at Munich, Germany.

Renishaw plc, United Kingdom - William Lee replaces Sir David McMurtry as CEO. Will joined Renishaw in 1996 starting his career in new product research. He was appointed to the Board as Group Sales and Marketing Director in 2016.

Matomy Media Group, Israel - Matomy Media Group Ltd. appointed Liam Galin to succeed Sagi Niri as company's CEO. He previously served as President and CEO of Flash Networks.

Watchstone Group Plc, United Kingdom - Watchstone Group plc named Stefan Borson, the firm’s general counsel and company secretary, as Group CEO succeeding Indro Mukerjee.

IndigoVision Group plc, United Kingdom - IndigoVision announced that Pedro Simoes has been confirmed as CEO of the company and has joined the Board as an executive director with immediate effect. Pedro was initially appointed as the Company's SVP - Global Sales in October 2017 and took over as Interim CEO in November.

Vectron Systems AG, Germany - Vectron Systems AG has appointed Oliver Kaltner to become the company's CEO for the next four years. Most recently, he served as CEO of Leica Camera AG, a traditional premium brand for camera and sports optics products.

NewVoiceMedia, United Kingdom - NewVoiceMedia appointed Dennis Fois as the company’s CEO. Most recenty CEO of Rant & Rave.

Pebble Beach Systems Group plc, United Kingdom - Pebble Beach Systems Group plc named CFO & COO Peter Mayhead as Group CEO. Peter has been with Pebble Beach Systems Limited since 2013.

Precise Biometrics, Sweden - Precise Biometrics has appointed Stefan K Persson to new CEO. Stefan K Persson is EVP BO Home within the Bang Olufsen Group.

QlikTech International AB, Sweden - Qlik® appointed Mike Capone, former COO of Medidata Solutions, as Qlik’s new CEO. 

Asia Pacific 

Fuji Xerox, Japan - FUJIFILM and Xerox will combine Xerox and their longstanding Fuji Xerox joint venture. Xerox CEO Jeff Jacobson will serve as CEO of the new Fuji Xerox. 

GCL System Integration Technology, China - GCL System Integration Technology Co appointed Eric Luo as CEO. Before joining GCL, Luo was an Executive Director and CEO of Shunfeng International Clean Energy Limited.

Bitauto Holdings, China - Bitauto Holdings Limited announced the appointment of Bitauto's President Mr. Andy Zhang to the position of CEO. Mr. Zhang will remain in his current roles as chairman of the board of directors and CEO of Bitauto's controlled subsidiary Yixin Group.

NIIT Technologies, India - NIIT Technologies has appointed Mr. Sudhir Singh as CEO of the company. Formerly with Genpact where he was the COO of the IT service & capital markets business.

AEM Holdings, Singapore - AEM Holdings announced long--planned CEO succession with the retirement of CEO Charles Cher and the promotion of current COO Chok Yean Hung to CEO.

Sino-i Technology, China - Chen Ming Fei a current executive Director of the company, was appointed as the CEO of the company. Mr. Chen joined the Group in 2000 and was appointed as an executive Director and general manager of the company since December 2016.

Vista Group International, New Zealand - Vista Group International announced that Kimbal Riley will take over as Group CEO from Murray Holdaway. Riley joined Vista Group four years ago, with the past two years as CEO of Vista Entertainment Solutions (VES).

Nucleus Software Exports Limited, India - Nucleus Software Exports approved appointment of MR. R. P. Singh as CEO of the company. Singh is currently heading the Global product Management for the company and he will also continue as Whole time Director.

The Network For Learning Limited, New Zealand - The Network For Learning Limited has appointed Larrie Moore as its CEO. Prior to 2degrees, he was COO at Orcon. He was also previously GM of brand and consumer marketing at Vodafone.

IFCA MSC Berhad, Malaysia - IFCA MSC appointed Mr. Cho Ngai Ming, Michael as CEO. Prior to joining the company, he was the Managing Director, CEO of Sage Malaysia.

Millennium Pacific Group, China - Lu Zhiming has been appointed as the CEO of the company. Lu was the vice general manager of marketing of China JinLun Tyre Fabrics Factory.

Latin America

Oi S.A., Brazil - Interim CEO and Chief Legal Officer Eurico de Jesus Teles Neto is now CEO.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell holds seven worldwide software patents. She has published several Business of Leadership reports on governance and leadership and has been quoted in numerous articles including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Week, Fortune, Agenda Week, MSNBC, Mass High Tech, the OPUS for the World Economic Forum, Boston Business Journal, The Globe & Mail, CIO Magazine, and IEEE. She also has been a featured speaker on leadership at numerous conferences and at Columbia University's MBA program.

Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults, garage.ca, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
