Welcome to our Technology CEO Transitions Newsletter.

We endeavor to catalog all open technology CEO roles (as of 10/31/2017) and latest appointments for the month of October 2017.  

The average length of time the searches are open is 4.4 months, up from 4.09 months earlier this year. There is little variance across geographies.

Overall

8% of the CEOs appointed were COOs or President or EVP - Operations, 8% were current board members, CFOs were 3%, iCEOs were 4%, 20% other internal executives and 57% external appointments.

Diversity: 8 (12%) CEOs out of 66 total CEOs appointed were women.

The two longest CEO searches started in June and September 2016.

HSN, Florida, April 2017 - CEO Mindy Grossman has resigned. The Board has established an Office of the CEO.

Intellicheck, New York, October 2017 - Intellicheck announces the appointment of Bill White as interim president and CEO and the departure of William Roof.

Equifax, Georgia, September 2017 - Chairman and CEO Richard Smith would step aside following massive data breach. Paulino do Rego Barros Jr. named interim leader as the board searches for a successor.

Nuance Communications, Massachusetts, November 2016 - Chairman and CEO Paul Ricci intends to retire at the end of first half of fiscal 2018.

Finisar Corporation, California, September 2017 - Finisar Corporation announced that Chairman and CEO Jerry Rawls has informed the board of directors that he intends to retire as CEO of the company by the end of calendar year 2018.

Syniverse, Florida, August 2017 - Syniverse's President and CEO Stephen C. Gray retires in 2018. Gray will remain as CEO until the completion of the search process.

TiVo, California, May 2017 - President and CEO, Thomas Carson, intends to retire.

Ellucian, Virginia, July 2017 - Ellucian President/CEO Jeff Ray has retired. The company is in search for its next CEO. 

GlassBridge Enterprises (fka Imation), Minnesota, February 2017 - CFO Danny Zheng is serving as Interim CEO until the company Board appoints a new CEO. 

Marchex, Washington, October 2016 - Pete Christothoulou resigned as CEO in October last year. 

Edgewater Technology, Massachusetts, March 2017 - Chairman Jeffrey L. Rutherford is Interim President and CEO. 

Quarterhill (fka Wi-LAN), Ottawa, Canada, April 2017 - Shaun McEwan, CFO, will become Interim CEO. 

Numerex, Georgia, January 2017 - Numerex terminated the employment of Marc Zionts as CEO. CFO Kenneth Gayronis interim CEO.  

Support.com, California, October 2016 – Dr. Elizabeth M. Cholawsky as president and CEO. Richard Bloom is iCEO.

Xceligent, Missouri, October 2017 - Jody Vanarsdale, Xceligent’s COO, will take on the role of Acting CEO.

Apivio Systems, BC, Canada, May 2017 - Apivio Systems appointed Ms. Elizabeth Park as interim President and CEO.

Blancco Technology Group, Georgia, September 2017 - Pat Clawson, CEO, has decided to step down. Interim CFO Simon Herrick, will become CEO on an interim basis.

Dealnet Capital, Ontario, Canada, October 2017 - The company has commenced the search for a new CEO following the decision by the company to replace the current CEO, Mr. Michael Hilmer.

Brekford, Maryland, November 2016 - Brekford entered into a separation agreement with C.B. Brechin, the company's CEO and CFO. 

Digiliti Money, Minnesota, August 2017 - Jeffrey Mack has resigned as President and CEO. EVP & CFO, Bryan Meier, will assume the position of interim CEO.

MMRGlobal, California, June 2017 - Robert H. Lorsch, Chairman, President and CEO of the company, died unexpectedly.

Lavu, New Mexico, June 2016 - Marc Chesley has stepped down as the CEO of Lavu. 

INTREorg Systems, Texas - June 2017 - David M. Beach tendered his resignation as president, CEO and a director. 

International Card Establishment, California, July 2017 - Payment company International Card Establishment appointed Kelani Long iCEO & Director.

Tinder, Texas, July 2017 - Greg Blatt will stay on as CEO of Tinder until a replacement is named. 

Kickstarter, New York, July 2017 - Kickstarter co-founder Yancey Strickler is stepping down as CEO of the innovative crowdfunding company later this year. Kickstarter is now actively looking for a replacement.

Ancestry.com, Utah, September 2017 - Ancestry.com CEO Tim Sullivan is stepping down. CFO and COO Howard Hochhauser will assume the role of interim CEO as the company conducts a search for a permanent replacement. 

Social Finance, California, September 2017 - CEO Michael Cagney will be stepping down at the end of the year.

Nexus Enterprise Solutions, Florida, October 2017 - James Bayardelle, was appointed as the company's CEO, until a new CEO is appointed. 

Birch Communications, Georgia, October 2017 - Birch Communications announced the departure of President and CEO Tony Tomae. 

Qlik Technologies, Pennsylvania, October 2017 - Qlik announced that Lars Björk, CEO, has transitioned his responsibilities to David Murphy as interim CEO. A search is underway to find a permanent CEO. 

comScore, Virginia, October 2017 - Dr. Gian Fulgoni its Co-Founder and CEO, intends to retire as CEO. The Board has formed a committee to direct the search for a new CEO. The Committee will retain a leading executive search firm to assist in identifying and evaluating both internal and external candidates for the CEO role. 

Bolste, Arizona, October 2017 - Founder Leif Hartwig has stepped down from his position as CEO, but will continue to serve on the board. Current Board member Kenneth Waters will serve in the role of Interim CEO until a permanent successor has been named.

Softcat Plc, UK, May 2017 - Martin Hellawell has decided to step down as CEO once a successor is in place at the IT infrastructure provider.

Independent News & Media plc, Ireland, October 2017 - Secretary and Chief Risk Officer Michael Doorly named as interim Group CEO, replacing outgoing CEO Robert Pitt.

Pricer AB, Sweden, April 2017 - CFO Helena Holmgren, 41, has been appointed acting CEO until a new CEO has been recruited at the leading company in providing in-store digital shelf-edge solutions.

Avanti Communications, United Kingdom, August 2017 - CEO David Williams is stepping down. Alan Harper, currently a board non-executive director who joined in March 2017, who will assume the role of interim CEO.

Catena Media Plc, Malta, October 2017 - Catena Media appointed Henrik Persson Ekdahl as acting CEO as Robert Andersson leaves as CEO.

Brady Plc, UK, September 2016 - After nine years at the commodity trading software company, CEO Gavin Lavelle, 57, has decided to pursue new opportunities. Ian Jenks will assume operational control of the company as executive chairman. 

Asia Pacific

Samsung Electronics, South Korea, October 2017 - The CEO of Samsung Electronics and Samsung Display Kwon Oh-Hyun resigned from both the units, leaving in March 2018. Samsung has not yet announced a replacement.

Infosys, India, August 2017 - Vishal Sikka, 50, has resigned as the MD and CEO of Infosys over differences with the founders on governance issues. COO UB Pravin Rao, 55, has been appointed as the interim CEO. Infosys appointed Egon Zehnder to help find Vishal Sikka's successor.

BPS Technology, Australia, September 2017 - Trevor Dietz, CEO of BPS, has advised the board of his intention to retire in the new year.

Xchanging Solutions, India, October 2017 - Ramaswamy Sankaranarayanan Kavalapara named as interim managing director cum interim CEO. 

Network for Learning, New Zealand, October 2017 - N4L CEO John Hanna is leaving the company. The N4L board has appointed Greg Woolley, currently N4L's chief product officer, as interim CEO.

RapidCloud, Malaysia, March 2017 - The Board has appointed Chew Man Fai, 42, Executive Director, as interim CEO. The company has stopped trading on AIM. The company is a enterprise cloud computing services and web-solutions provider for Southeast Asia.

John Wiley and Sons, New Jersey - Brian A. Napack has been named its new President and CEO. He comes to Wiley from Providence Equity Partners where he has been a Senior Advisor focused on investments in education and media. 

TVA GROUP, Quebec, Canada - France Lauzière replaces Julie Tremblay as President and CEO of TVA Group and will also served on the additional role of Chief Content Officer of Quebecor Content. 

Avigilon, British Columbia, Canada - James Henderson was promoted to President and COO, and named future CEO, as part of a succession plan. Founder & CEO Alexander Fernandes will then become Chairman. 

IntraLinks, New York - Leif O'Leary, EVP, Strategic Financials for Synchronoss, will become CEO of Intralinks following the consummation of the Intralinks acquisition. 

Dimension Data North America, North Carolina - Ross Wainwright named as CEO of Dimension Data in the Americas. Previously, SAP's Chief Customer Officer for its S/4HANA Cloud business unit. 

MobileIron, California - MobileIron's CFO Simon Biddiscombe named as President, CEO and Director. 

Arcserve (USA), Minnesota - Arcserve appointed Tom Signorello as its new CEO. Former CEO of OnX Enterprise Solutions. 

Miltope, Alabama - John F. Haley, Brigadier General (US Army, retired), named as President and CEO. 

Flatirons Solutions, California - Flatirons Solutions appointed Chief Solutions Officer Jean-Daniel (JD) Sillion as the company's new CEO. 

Luna Innovations, Virginia - Luna Innovations appointed Scott Graeff as the company’s president and CEO. Previously chief strategy officer, treasurer and secretary. 

inTEST, New Jersey - inTEST named EVP & COO James Pelrin as the company’s next President & CEO. 

DragonWave-X, Ontario, Canada - DragonWave-X appointed Hans B. Amell as the company's new CEO. Former Unisys and Dun and Bradstreet. 

Telestream, California - Telestream's CEO and one of the company’s original founders, Dan Castles, is retiring. Ex-Cisco executive Scott Puopolo will take over the CEO position. 

InsPro Technologies, Pennsylvania - David M. Anderson becomes the CEO of the company. Joins from SCOR Global Life where he was a SVP and head of US individual life reinsurance. 

Sierra Monitor, California - Jeffrey Brown named as president and CEO. Joins the company from Accuris Networks where he was the President and CEO. 

Radixx International, Florida - Radixx International appointed John Elieson as President & CEO. Elieson spent 29 years at Sabre, most recently serving as SVP of Global Accounts and Traveler Experience, Travel Network division. 

KORE Wireless Group, Virginia - Romil Bahl named as CEO of KORE. Romil most recently served as President and CEO of Lochbridge.

Novation Companies, Missouri - Jeffrey E. Eberwein, the Company's Executive Chairman, to serve as the Company's principal executive officer. 

Cloud Nine Education Group, British Columbia, Canada - Board member Allan Larmour named as President & CEO. 

BTL Group, British Columbia, Canada - Dominic McCann, EVP, Sales and Marketing, has been appointed CEO at BTL. 

MassRoots, Colorado - The board appointed VP Scott Kveton as the company's CEO.

Rego Payment Architectures, Florida - Rego Payment Architectures appointed Pres/COO David A. Knight as Chairman of the board and a member of its board of directors, and as its CEO.

EVOQ Medical, Georgia - EVOQ Medical announced President Dan Collard as CEO. 

Thought Stream, California - Peter Jackson has been appointed as the new CEO of the company. Jackson was CEO and co-founder of Ziploop. 

Wadena, California - Wadena appointed J. Jacob Isaacs as a Director of the Company and as its President, CEO, CFO and Secretary. Former CEO Cumberland Hills. 

LockBox Link, Nevada - Natalie Moores was appointed as CEO, CFO, President and Secretary. Ms. Moores is a retired attorney from California. 

Appthority, California - Appthority announced that Anne Bonaparte has joined the company as its new CEO. Former president and CEO of BrightPoint Security. 

Beacon Solutions, Illinois - Curiosity.com named Lisa Weinstein as CEO. Former CEO of Engine Media, the global media services operating unit of the Engine Group. 

Apto, Colorado - Apto hired Angela Tucci as CEO. Tucci was most recently at CA Technologies, where she served as general manager of the Agile Management business unit. 

bowmo, New York - bowmo named Michael J. Bekiarian, an accomplished Software Executive and Corporate Strategy Leader to the position of CEO. 

Distil, Virginia - Distil Networks appointed Tiffany Olson Jones to the position of CEO. Former VP of global solutions providers, OEM, and alliance operations at FireEye. 

Solace Power, Newfoundland and Labrador,Canada - Solace Power appointed Michael Gotlieb as CEO. Joins from NuCurrent. 

CSDC Systems, Ontario, Canada - CSDC has appointed global tech and software veteran Erin Mulligan Nelson as CEO. She joins CSDC from SunPower, where she was EVP and CMO. 

Secure64 Software, Colorado - Thad Dupper has been appointed CEO and will join the company's Board. Most recently, he was Chairman and CEO of Evolving Systems.

Dustin Group AB, Sweden - Thomas Ekman named as new President and CEO. Former CEO of Cabonline Group and Tele2 Sweden. 

Redcentric, United Kingdom - Christopher Jagusz appointed as CEO and Board Member. Former CEO of Azzurri Communications. 

Seamless Distribution, Sweden - John Longhurst, currently Chairman of the Board, named as new CEO of Seamless. 

1Spatial Plc, United Kingdom - 1Spatial Plc has appointed Acting CEO Claire Milverton as CEO. 

Jacada, Israel - Jacada appointed Yochai Rozenblat as the new CEO, replacing outgoing CEO Guy Yair. Rozenblat is former Chief Revenue Officer of Ctera Networks. 

MER Telemanagement Solutions, Israel - Mer Telemanagement Solutions appointed Roy Hess as the CEO. Most recently, GM of Bioness Neuromodulation. 

NEC Europe, United Kingdom - NEC Europe appointed Hironobu Kurosaki as President and CEO. Former President of NEC Telecommunication and Information Technology Ltd. (Turkey), and GM of NEC’s Americas and EMEA Division. 

Idnow, Germany - IDnow appointed Rupert Spiegelberg as its new CEO as it looks to accelerate its international expansion plans. Rupert Spiegelberg was previously CEO of Investis. 

Teridion Technologies, Israel - Teridion has hired Saar Gillai as CEO to lead it through its next growth phase. Former SVP and GM of HPE’s Communications Solutions Business. 

Quench Technology, United Kingdom - The company has appointed Mark Van Walwyk as the new CEO. Walwyk is an industry veteran, having spent 16 years in senior positions at GfK. 

Huddly, Norway - Huddly has promoted the product design and collaboration industry expert Jonas Rinde, well known in the industry as the co-founder of Spark Board, to the position of the company's CEO. 

Asia Pacific 

Sony Interactive Entertainment, Japan - Sony Interactive Entertainment, the division responsible for PlayStation and nearly half of Sony’s operating profit, has appointed its deputy president Tsuyoshi “John” Kodera as new president and CEO. 

IRIS Corporation, Malaysia - Shaiful Zahrin Bin Subhan named as Group CEO. Accomplished leader with deep business expertise and customer insights. 

NetComm Wireless, Australia - Interim CEO Ken Sheridan has been appointed as MD and CEO of the company. 

Seven Stars Cloud Group, China - Chairman Bruno Wu will become the company's next CEO, succeeding Bing Yang. 

Novita Healthcare, Australia - Glenn Smith named as CEO of the company. His most recent leadership position was CEO at SpotJobs. 

Weebit Nano, Australia - Coby Hanoch named new CEO and MD. 15 years' experience in engineering and engineering management, and 22 years' in sales management and executive roles. 

Robosoft Technologies, India - Robosoft Technologies has appointed B Ravi Teja as its new CEO. Former VP, Global Consulting and Digital Transformation at Nihilent Technologies. 

Freecharge Payment Technologies, India - Axis Bank has acquired Freecharge and Sangram Singh, Axis' SVP for card and payments business, has been appointed as the CEO of the unit. 

Reliance Global Cloud Xchange, India - Reliance Communications appointed William Barney, Co-CEO of the company as CEO and Director of Global Cloud Xchange.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members.
