Motorola Solutions Appoints Skype Exec as Head of Software        

Motorola Solutions announced the leader of the company’s new software organization. Andrew Sinclair, previously of the Skype division of Microsoft, joins Motorola Solutions as the company’s first-ever head of software. Sinclair will lead the company’s software organization. As head of software, Sinclair will lead an integrated team focused on development, sales and delivery of software that provides critical intelligence to public safety and commercial users.

Microsoft Appoints its Former President of Office Division as New EVP of Corporate Strategy and PlanningKurt DelBene

Microsoft named Kurt DelBene, 54, as EVP of Corporate Strategy and Planning reporting to CEO Satya Nadella. DelBene is returning to Microsoft, where he was most recently president of the Microsoft Office Division. After leaving Microsoft in 2013, he then served as senior advisor to the Secretary of Health and Human Services where he was appointed by President Obama to oversee implementation and improvement of Healthcare.gov. He most recently has been a venture partner at Madrona Venture Group, concentrating on investing and advising in early stage, technology-focused startups in the Pacific Northwest.

Qualcomm Appoints Biomedical and Energy Research Heavyweight to Board

Qualcomm elected Susan Hockfield, Ph.D., 60, to its Board of Directors. Dr. Hockfield served as President of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) until July 2012, where she also holds a faculty appointment as Professor of Neuroscience. The first woman and the first life scientist to lead MIT, Dr. Hockfield helped the university break new ground across a range of disciplines. Under her leadership, the university launched the MIT Energy Initiative in 2006, known as MITEI, a $350 million effort to accelerate research, policy and education to achieve a clean energy future.

Canada’s Largest Communication Services Company Gets New Board Member

The Board of Directors of Bell Canada Enterprise announced the appointment of The Honourable Jim Prentice, P.C., Q.C., 55, as a Director of BCE & Bell Canada. Prentice currently serves as Senior EVP and Vice Chairman of CIBC. First elected to the House of Commons for Calgary Centre-North in 2004, Prentice served in a variety of Cabinet posts including Minister of Industry and Chair of the Operations Committee. As Minister of the Environment, he was Canada's principal intermediary with the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

Regional CEO Selected at Management Consulting and Technology Services Company

Accenture has named Jorge Benitez, 51, as MD of North America and CEO of the United States. For the past five years, Benitez has served as COO of Accenture's Products Operating Group. He was recently named to Hispanic Business Magazine’s "2011 Top 25 Corporate Elite" list. In 2004, the publication selected him as one of the 100 most influential Hispanics in the US.
