Motorola Solutions Appoints Skype Exec as Head of Software        

Motorola Solutions announced the leader of the company’s new software organization. Andrew Sinclair, previously of the Skype division of Microsoft, joins Motorola Solutions as the company’s first-ever head of software. Sinclair will lead the company’s software organization. As head of software, Sinclair will lead an integrated team focused on development, sales and delivery of software that provides critical intelligence to public safety and commercial users.

HDFC Bank Appoints Former CTO of Aadhaar as Board Member

India based HDFC Bank appointed Srikanth Nadhamuni as Director on the Board of the Bank. Nadhamuni has been appointed as a Director having expertise in the field of IT. He was the CTO of Aadhaar (UID authority of India) during 2009-2012 and is currently chairman of Novopay Solutions.

VMware Appoints CFO Jonathan Chadwick as Co-COO; to Work Jointly With Carl Eschenbach

VMware appointed CFO Jonathan Chadwick to the expanded role of COO. Carl Eschenbach, VMware’s President and COO is also taking on an expanded role within VMware, with the addition of the Corporate Strategy and Business Development function moving into his organization. Chadwick and Eschenbach will share the office of COO.

Google Appoints Microsoft’s Bing Architect to Work on Machine Learning

Blaise Aguera y Arcas has left Microsoft for Google. Aguera y Arcas played a key role in the development of the Bing search engine, working mainly on Bing Maps and Bing Mobile. He also focused on wearable computing, augmented reality, and natural user interfaces. The engineer will work on machine learning at Google. Aguera y Arcas joined Microsoft after his company, Seadragon Software, was acquired by the software giant in 2006.

Online travel company The Priceline Group promoted Darren Huston, 47, to President and CEO. The promotion will split the roles of CEO and Chairman and Jeffery H. Boyd, who has been President and CEO since 2002, will remain as Chairman. Huston will join The Priceline Group's Board of Directors. Huston is CEO of B.V. (Netherlands), a wholly owned subsidiary of The Priceline Group and an online hotel reservation service, a position he will continue to hold. Huston came to the Group from Microsoft, where he served as Corporate VP, Consumer & Online and President & CEO of Microsoft Japan.

Microsoft Names New CFO From Within Ranks

Microsoft has named Amy Hood, 41 as its first woman CFO, replacing Peter Klein, 49, who will be leaving the company. Hood joined Microsoft in 2002 and currently serves as CFO of Microsoft's Business Division (MBD), overseeing all financial strategy, management and reporting. During her time as CFO of MBD, Hood was also deeply involved in the strategy development and overall execution of the company's successful acquisitions of Skype and Yammer. Previously, Hood served as chief of staff in the Server and Tools group, then ran the strategy and business development team in MBD before becoming CFO of the division in 2010. Before joining Microsoft as a part of the investor relations group, she worked at Goldman Sachs in various roles including investment banking and capital markets groups.

Microsoft Appoints P&G Exec to lead Retail Sales and Marketing and Perceptive Pixel Founder as New GM

Microsoft appointed Stephen Schueler as Corporate VP of Retail Sales and Marketing. In his position, Schueler will be responsible for driving demand through global retail partners and ensuring customers receive a great service experience. Schueler joins Microsoft from Procter & Gamble, where he most recently served as General Manager for the Global Retail Operations Group responsible for global merchandising, promotion, and the third-party selling organizations. He will report to Chris Capossela, Chief Marketing Officer for Microsoft.

Skype Appoints Former Yahoo! CMO

Skype, a division of Microsoft, added Elisa Steele to its senior management team as Corporate VP to lead marketing. In this role, Elisa will oversee Skype's global brand and marketing functions, as well as local go-to-market activities. Elisa joins Skype after serving as EVP and CMO at Yahoo!. Prior to Yahoo!, Elisa she was SVP of Corporate Marketing at NetApp and led Sun Microsystems' integrated marketing and merchandising organization as VP. Elisa was a top performing sales leader at AT&T for several years.

Steve Jobs Relinquishes CEO Role at Apple

Apple announced that Steve Jobs, 56, has resigned as CEO of the company. He will continue to serve the company in his new role as Chairman of the Board. Former Apple COO Tim Cook, 50, has assumed the role of CEO. Prior to joining Apple, Cook was the VP of Corporate Materials for Compaq. He came to Compaq from Intelligent Electronics, where he served as COO of the computer reseller division. Cook has also worked at IBM, most recently as the Director of North American Fulfillment.

Cisco Promotes Longtime Employee to Regional GM

Cisco Systems announced that Christian Martin has been appointed as the GM of Switzerland. Martin has been with Cisco since 1998 and has served the company in a variety of roles, including Manager of the Datacenter Virtualization team and Regional Sales Manager for the Enterprise Business in Switzerland. He replaces Eric Waltert, who is now the EMEA Leader of Collaboration for the Cisco Enterprise Business Group.
